Nepal Vicar in Slovenian College

21.november 2010
Bishop Anthony Sharma the first bishop ever from Nepal, (the land of the Himalayas and Mt.Everest) and the first ever Vicar Apostolic of the Vicariate of Nepal visited the Pontificio Collegio Sloveno, Roma, today the 21st of November 2010. He was here to visit his student priest from Nepal and also to wish and  congratulate the Slovenian fathers and other student priests on the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Slovenian College.

He was very happy and pleased at the hospitality shown towards him and the family atmosphere that exists in the college for which the Slovenians are well known. He joined the community for lunch and enlightened all present about Nepal and the work of the Catholic church there. Nepal being a country with a missionary dimension, he also shared about the difficulties of the mission. The most touching was the incident when he was arrested and put in prison for preaching the gospel on Easter Sunday. As of now the situation he said is not that bad and requested prayers for the mission country of Nepal. As a sign of love from the Nepalese people he handed over a Thangka painting (a typical Nepal form of painting by a Buddhist) to the Rector of the College.
